Garcia previously served as the executive director and chief curator of the Museum of Contemporary Art Santa Barbara, curatorial associate at Museum of Contemporary Art, San Diego and curatorial representative to the Mexican Cultural Institute in Washington, D.C., on behalf of the Getty Foundation.

Before joining ASU, Schupbach was the director of design and creative placemaking for the National Endowment for the Arts, where he oversaw grantmaking and partnerships and the NEA’s federal agency collaborations related to community development.
