Next level designs 

Heidi Stierli, a fashion alum, landed an internship in New York City at fashion powerhouse American Dream Team Network International, which does licensing of designs, garment production and sends its imports around the world. Read more. Several ASU FIDM students also landed impressive internships this year. Kelsi Kitagawa interned with Michael Kors Capri Holdings over the summer, and a small cohort of students in Los Angeles worked at the Ross buying offices.

ASU Fashion Symposium

ASU FIDM hosted several high-profile industry guests at the first annual Fashion Symposium April 7, 2023 in Downtown Phoenix at Fusion on First. Guests included Booth Moore, the executive editor, West Coast at Women’s Wear Daily; Sara Kozlowski, vice president of Program Strategies, Education and Sustainability Initiatives at the CFDA; and Teri Agins, former Wall Street journalist and author of “Hijacking the Runway.” They discussed topics across the fashion industry, addressing approximately 200 students and community members.

Fashion Scholarship Fund’s Class of 2023

Three ASU FIDM fashion students were honored in New York City as part of the Fashion Scholarship Fund’s Class of 2023. LeeAnn Huang, Sabrina Martinez and Aletheia Olear were awarded scholarships — $10,000 each to Huang and Martinez and $7,500 to Olear — and invited to participate in a series of events, including a gala attended by more than 750 scholars, alumni, industry leaders, designers and influencers celebrating fashion luminaries Anna Wintour and Emma Grede. Fashion aficionado expands horizons at ASU FIDM

Jared Wall became the first student registered to ASU FIDM after ASU announced the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM) in downtown Los Angeles would be part of the expansion of fashion education at the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts. Learn about why Wall wanted to join ASU FIDM, which combines ASU’s focus on innovation at a Research 1 university with FIDM’s more than half a century history and legacy within the fashion industry, resulting in enhanced opportunities for both.
