Tasha Romero is a legend in the world of esports – winning a reality show competition with a prize that includes $10,000 and a dream job opportunity.
Romero, a digital culture student in the School of Arts, Media and Engineering, spent one of the last weeks of her final semester at Arizona State University in Berlin, Germany, as one of seven contestants selected for the second season of “Making the Squad,” an esports reality show competition that brings together some of the best competitive players in the world and biggest personalities in gaming.
Romero has been playing video games since she was 3 years old.
“The reason why video games have always been special to me is because this is the one way I found to connect with other people easily,” she said. “I have four older brothers, and I used to have so many issues with one of my brothers that the only way we could really connect is by playing video games together. Since all of us live very far apart now, we use games to stay connected and close.”
